I purchased an HP Photosmart C4180 All-In-One and a D-Link DP301U USB Print Server. I can print over my network from my Windows XP laptop, but not from my PowerBook G4. I cannot find the printer in the add printer utility (it resets to generic postscript printer). As far as I know, this printer is not a postscript printer. I have updated the printer software. Any ideas about how to make this work? Which protocol should I be using? The print server is compatible with OS X, but I have not found any info on v 10.4. D-Link support is incapable of helping Mac users. PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)
I have an HP Photosmart C4180 All-in-One printer/scanner. After a reboot of the computer, the scan-to-PC options available on the printer's menu (Scan Menu button, then DOC TO PDF etc) all disappear. The only options that appear are 'Scan and reprint' and 'Scan to memory card.'
Check to see if a driver or app is available to use your HP printer with a Mac computer or laptop. Note: On iOS and macOS, most HP printers work with Apple AirPrint to provide full-quality printing without the need to download or install drivers.
